Mochiatsu Mochi Donuts Coming to Glassboro.  Korean Hot Dogs and Boba Tea Also!

Posted on Published: July 31, 2023

Mochiatsu is a newer mochi donut franchise opening a location on Delsea drive in Glassboro in a small strip mall shopping center located close to the Monarch Diner.

The unit they are occupying was previously a Cricket Mobile store. Bosphorus Mediterranean is on one end of this small center and El Mariachi is on the other.

The signature item at Mochiatsu are there Mochi Donuts which is a unique ring shaped donut made with rice flour, which gives it a light crispy outer coating and a fluffy soft inside… almost like a funnel cake.

Mochiatsu says the mochi donuts are made fresh every day… every hour, to be exact!

Mochiatsu will also offer Korean hot dogs which are similar to the American corn dog, except they use a rice based flower which gives the coating a crispy outer shell with a softer interior… all wrapped around the hot dog and cheesy mozzarella!

Additionally the menu will include bubble tea and fruit tea, which are brewed in the store with premium tea leaves… to which you can add your favorite tapioca boba topping.

This would be the first location of this franchise company in South Jersey but they do have a location opened in Center City Philadelphia near Jefferson Hospital, on 11th St.

Mochi Donuts are somewhat new to South Jersey but there are other brands in the area including Mochinut who has two South Jersey locations in Voorhees and Cherry Hill.

A big thank you to a 42Freeway reader for letting me know about the banner!

As mentioned the small strip center where the Mochiatsu mochi donut location will open is also home to Bosphorus Mediterranean Cuisine and El Mariachi Mexican restaurant.

Having a Korean based restaurant in the center will add to an international flair!

This area of Delsea Dive is getting a lot of attention as directly across the street from the planned Korean donut store, a Chick-fil-A restaurant was approved in the current rear parking lot area of the Matt Blatt auto dealership.

Additionally, the closed Save-A-Lot grocery store is seeing construction attention right now as it was approved to be a Liscio’s bakery and retail store.

Mochi donuts are definitely one of the newer and more unique items for the area, but Glassboro is a college town and it has been seeing a variety of new food venues opening, likely targeting the youthful social-media video clip driven student population.

While the menu combination at Mochiatsu may appear to be unique, it actually seems to be somewhat common in the Mochi donut space as other competing brands have a similar menu mix.

That being said I can npt any real background history on the Mochiatsu brand… but it’s clear they are still building out aspects of the website.

Their website shows five open locations and eight more in the works.

Interestingly the locations are scattered somewhat far across the United States with locations opened and planned for Pennsylvania, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and Missouri.

They do promote themselves as a franchise location but currently the franchise page says that at this time they are not accepting any additional applications, and to check back soon.
